To be a quality production journalist you need a bow with many strings. A mastery of words is a must, along with a keen understanding of pictures and design.

But you also need to be able to pull it all together with accuracy, attention to detail, project management skills, a strong news sense, an understanding of your audience, and the ability to work under pressure.

Working with key stakeholders and an editor I designed a logo and 16-page supplement to celebrate the exhibition of the Staffordshire Hoard in Stoke-on-Trent and to boost the Art Fund campaign to bring the treasure to the region permanently.

Working with a senior management team, including the editor, we redesigned the Post and Times using much of the orginal content to help win new readers and advertisers without alienating existing readers.

CHEADLE POST AND TIMES REDESIGN

The redesigned front pages for the Post and Times slowed down the pace of the weekly newspaper, raised the front page story count and provided a myriad of 'ins' to pull the reader into the paper.
